This is our last day.
Late start, expert packing by Ann, a walk through places we walked before and a stop for lunch in a place we spotted the first day. Superb little elegant baos and beef noodles cooked in broth, yummy, by 2 excellent owner/hosts on High St.
It has been 19 wonderful days. Everything worked better than planned and when it did not was only for the best. Wonderful scenery, great hospitable people, a land of opportunity for quite few immigrants in the past who are now 2nd generation born. Problems as everywhere with high prices for people on lower income, unaffordable housing even if you have a job, isolation in a sparsely populated land. This was one of the most beautiful places we have seen, and we are people who have travelled a lot and seen quite a bit of the world. A land full of hills, coast, hidden coves and large beaches, tall mountains and volcanoes. A land where people are less than the available land, where COVID was dealt with most effectively, and where a prime minister, still, very young, left because she has given enough of herself! A land with wonderful people of many colors and ancestors: Aotearoa me Te Waipounamu
Maybe we'll see you again!
