It's not often that we do a coach trip, but today it seemed the easiest way to get some sand and sea. Collection from the hotel, an hour and a half on the coach, six hours on the beach, with lunch included. Great. Unfortunately the coach broke down half an hour into the journey, but half an hour later a replacement arrived. The road out of town was busy and, as we neared the island,(which isnt really an island) it became very bumpy too. En route we crossed a bridge over the Magdalena river, the most important waterway in Colombia.
The beach had soft white sand, turquoise sea and hundreds of tourists just like us. Swimming was limited to within a certain distance, sadly speed boats, jet skis, and tourist boats shared that same space. This make swimming a bit hazardous and a bit polluted. Nevertheless, lunch was simple but tasty, the beer was cold and we had a lovely day.
