Singapore here we are

And then we landed. 12 and a half hours from Heathrow. The superefficiency of Singapore starts in the beautiful Changi airport. The quickest immigration ever. A short sky train and the MRT train to downtown. We are staying in the Little India area near Jalan Besar. All this from touching down to our hotel in less than 50 minutes and few SGD.

A quick rest and then out.

We ll get to the most touristy bit tonight. Gardens at the Bay which because of the New Year celebrations are combined with the River hong Bao celebration a feast of giant laterns with themes for the New Year.

Thrown in for good measure an impressive firework display that is attracting huge crowds.

And on the background the famous Bay Sands Hotel and the weird and wonderful Super Tree Groves. Massive frames/skeletons populated with real plants and trees and coming alive in the night courtesy of a light show.

All a bit glitzy, but wonderfully colorful, beautifully layed out, and a good entry to the Year of the Fire Horse.

Pretty exhausted on the way back we stopped for food in a small Indian working class restaurant the Chendur. Famous for its Biryani, it had run out of the comfort dish, but a mutton meal and a couple dosas were very tasty replacement . Right amount of spice and not overly oily. Nice people both the ones working there as well as the customers, it left a nice spicy taste at the end of our first evening in Singapore.

See u tomorrow. Aptly our hotel is The Wanderlust which expresses our urge and desire to travel and wander.
