Auckland Friends and Asian food

Early on Wednesday we set off for the Christchurch Airport. It was raining so we took a taxi with an Afghan driver who had left Afghanistan through the long immigration route, ended in Holland, where he met his wife and they came to NZ. He has only been able to see his family once in 2014. Fuming with both the Taliban and the US but mainly felt very sad. The flight from Christchurch to Auckland was just over an hour.

We went by Super Shuttle Bus that was very good. Our hotel is brand new and booked with ICH Hotels points. We ended on the 30th floor having a fantastic view of the port and the city.

Then a nice walk from Kevin's Arcade to Myers Park, theatres, City Hall and finally to the port. The passage from Kevin's arcade to the park is magical and unexpected.

And then later we met Paul, Anna and Luke our friends that we have not seen for years.

It was a great ending initially in White and Wong's, a superb Restaurant on the harbour serving South Asian food. The food was superb, the service good but the company even better. We chatted for hours and ended in their house for dessert and more natter.
