Chom fabric market and loooong walks

City with a large fabric market and Ann meant we had to go. Rolls and rolls of fabric. Took some unsuccessful negotiations and some more intense and successful ones before we bought fabric from 2 shops.

There were other things mainly food at the ground level.

And more

Then another nice milk coffee and a long walk via the famous Bà Trang Buddhist temple.

As you can see manning motorbikes is a serious job in Hanoi.

Then we passed St Joseph church, and later the train Street.

the old citadel, and reached up to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

By that stage the negotiation with the motorbikes, the cars and the noise had taken its toll so we decided to return to the apartment by taxi. Mistake: the meter was running like there was no tomorrow so after a couple shouts we stopped him without paying the full fake meter amount, got out and walked the rest of the way. That gave us the chance to see some old sewing machines

The evening was time for drinks in a nice bar and then duck. Our first choice Vit 53 was unfortunately closing so we went instead to the Gourman recommended Don Duck. Half duck later we were pleasantly full with moist succulent and aromatic duck. We had a lovely long chat with two Canadian guys from Toronto and Vancouver. A lot was said about travels, experiences, vietnamese culture and the evening passed relaxed in a friendly atmosphere.
