Hoi An

The flight from Can Tho was an hour and 15 minutes. On time and a very smooth flight. After landing in Da Nang, we had a 45 minute taxi journey to Hoi An. In central Vietnam now the countryside looks and feels different to me. Perhaps less busy. The last bit of our journey was through rice fields.

Hoi An is vibrant and colourful and busy, mainly with tourists. We spent the evening wandering by the river and through the tiny streets of the Old Town.

We went through the open market close to the river and had a stop in the afternoon at Mr Hai Noodles for Cau Lau a special noodle concoction from Hoi An and some beer

Then walked in small streets and looked a bit in the vibrant tailor market of Hoi An. It might not be the trade hub of the past but is centre for tailoring for the country. Some people think this is it's blessing as it might be its demise

We ended at a restaurant of a local cook and writer Morning Glory where the deep fried snapper (199 K vnd) with mango was superb
