Kaikoura

A road that reminded us the North of the South Island.

A drive just short of 2 1/2 h brought us there, but not before we had a pleasant surprise that we stopped at the side of the road promptly for. Dolphins playing just off the shore.

And then we embarked for our whale expedition with Kaikoura Whales. The trip was brilliant and proved once more in the most definite way that Ann does NOT get sea sickness. ( thanks to buccastem) A lot of bounces and no sign of it. Albatross and seals were quickly seen but the sperm whale proved more elusive. Until we saw it even if it was a brief encounter with its back. Argiris was one of the first one to see it from a long distance...

Spot the whale...

I know we didnt see much of it, or for very long but it was well worth the 2 hour roller-coaster.
