Last day in Hong Kong

And no we did not even try to go to the Peak today.

We headed to the Tai Kwun complex which is a transformed former jail with art areas, the former jail with its yard and cells and a large beautiful square

HK is full of butterflies but the tress of the square were full of them as other trees elsewhere are full of bird. Perhaps flying free from the former cells. There were examples of a cruel penal system discriminating against the Chinese immigrants and also displacing some convicts to Singapore and other colonies. Does it remind you anything?

The art exhibition persuaded Ann to wear a hat even for a little while

And then some walk and towards the Tai Nan Street and the fresh market. Tai Nan street is where most leather fabric shops are but... you guessed it most were closed due to New Year. But then the fresh fish, and poultry market Pei Ho Street Market and Cooked Food Centre

北河街街市及熟食中心 was around the corner. Who were we to turn down a good market. Unfortunately we could not buy the literally alive fish to cook.

And also some alive chickens ready to meet their creator or maybe more likely the pan.

Back home for a quick rest and reordering our luggages before we went out for food. The intention was to go for Char Siu and goose to Joy Hing'Roasted meat a simple place that churns out superb meat for generations but it was closed (lunar year). But next door was another great place Lei King restaurant. This seemed to specialise in fish but we came out for meat so we got some goose and some beef. The goose (regular portion) was plenty for both with good soft pieces and very reasonable price. The beef with bean sause and the vermicelli were also tasty particularly washed down with some TsingTao and plenty of tea. (all in all 500 $HKG) .

And then for sleep because tomorrow we are changing countries. Or so we thought. I mean we were going to change countries all right but the bloody jetlag hit us both this time from 1:40. Yes your friendly seasoned travellers who usually are OK from 2nd day onwards this time seem to be plagued. Never mind. A trip is to be enjoyed even with little sleep.
